Dr. Laura Machuca Suarez is the BioTECHT Principal. Laura is an Environmental Microbiologist and holds a PhD in Chemistry from Curtin University. She is an internationally recognized expert on microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) with a remarkable track record of delivering MIC projects at national and international level.
Through almost 20 years in the resources sector, Laura has held roles in industry, academia and government. She is an adjunct Associate Professor, Senior Consultant and Industry Advisor, PhD supervisor, Journal Guest Editor, Advisory Board Member and Keynote speaker.
She has written over 50 peer-reviewed publications on MIC, corrosion and deterioration and over 100 Technical Engineering Reports to industry. She is a Member of Technical scientific and organizing committees for several Corrosion/MIC international conferences and AMPP Standard Committee member for Biodeterioration and MIC international standards.
